As told by Pat’s sister, Cindy Collins Hogg Pat was just shy of his 23rd birthday when he died. He was best friends with my husband and he was a wonderful young man. I see bits and pieces of him in all three of my grown children; some physical and some personality. Pat was different; really funny and outgoing. He got along with everybody. He was good at everything, including football, and very kind. Pat and two of his friends, BARRY SIGLER and TIM ZANDER, were killed at approximately 2:00 in the morning coming back from Bozeman. Everybody lived in Livingston and they went out to Bozeman for the night. There was no alcohol involved. We had a sloppy wet snowstorm that night. Pat and his friends were coming around a curve and slid into the other lane and hit a semi. Their crosses are located about six miles west of Livingston on the old highway before they put in the interstate. My parents never got over the pain and sorrow of losing their firstborn and their only son. They didn’t smile again until I had their grandchildren. There are always flowers on the crosses. Maybe one of the mothers of the other boys keeps them decorated. |
