Douglas James Griffin

As told by his brother, Ted Griffin

Ted has one very fond memory of his brother. He states that when they were growing up together, Doug was afraid of the cows on his grandfather's ranch. Ted had to hold his hand while they walked to the barns or anywhere on the ranch. Ted says, "I am very proud to have had a wonderful brother; he was a rodeo star, high school educated. He always loved rodeo and anything to do with being a cowboy."

Doug had been gone all weekend attending rodeos. He was tired when he got done at the Birch Creek Rodeo on the Blackfeet Reservation and he asked a friend to drive him home. But then he turned around and left without her. He started home and fell asleep at the wheel. His truck drifted off the road; he woke up too late. His truck rolled several times. He was thrown out and the truck rolled on him, killing him instantly.

Doug died on Hwy. 89 between mile markers 99 and 100 on the Blackfeet Reservation. There is no cross.
