Bess
Marie Harman As told by Bess's mom, Jean Harman. My daughter, Bess, was killed in a motorcycle accident, years ago, in Billings. The young man that she was riding with, Jeff, was also killed. His family put up a white cross, as a memorial, but it was taken down because it was in a residential area. They were pretty heartbroken about it. The motorcycle accident happened about 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of 17th and Colton, in Billings. Jeff drove through the intersection, hitting the curb. The motorcycle then became airborne and Jeff and Bess were thrown and landed in a field. They both died instantly. Bess was attending Rocky Mountain College at the time. It is very hard to go to that area. We try to avoid it if we can, when we are down in Billings. If I didn't have my photo albums of Bess, memories would grow dimmer with each passing year. I really don't like admitting that, because that part is very painful. We now have two delightful grandchildren that we adore. The pain of all of this is that we know that Bess would have loved her nephew and niece and she is missing out on so much. She was going to be a schoolteacher and she loved little children. The thing I remember about her the most is that she did not have a single enemy. Everyone considered her a delight. She was so moved by all of the hurt in the world. |
