Blanche Davis

Sent in by her son, Loren Davis

Loren's mom was killed by a drunk driver in Helena while visiting him over the Christmas holidays.

The accident occurred about a quarter mile north of where Custer Ave. and Montana Ave. intersect. There is now a Pizza Hut at that site. Blanche was returning to her son's home after attending a performance of the "Messiah" at the St. Helena Cathedral when she was struck by a southbound pickup that crossed into the northbound lane and hit the left front side of her car. This man had multiple prior convictions for driving under the influence.

Blanche was born in Canoe Township, Iowa in 1900. She traveled by covered wagon to California with her family and eventually moved to a homestead in the Maudlow area. She attended college and became a primary school teacher in Springhill, Lennep, Ringling and Big Sandy. She was married to William V. Davis and he preceded her in death. She raised three sons and two daughters. She lived in Martinsdale at the time of her death.
